Mindset for Challenging Times

These are times when we really need to put to good use the Power of Choice.Choice is an attitude and you can choose to either make positive or negative choices. Whatever choice we make has a consequence that ultimately affects our thoughts, our mind and our life.We therefore have to make our choices carefully when faced with these challenges.

Perception is always key when we are faced with decisions to make, and our perception is determined by our thought patterns… call it our mind set. It therefore makes good sense to reorientate and renew our minds as to know the right steps to take when we find ourselves in challenging times

Wayne Dyer said this,

”Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change”

Lets therefore look at values that can build up our minds for taking control during challenging times

Respond Don’t React

Life is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel

When we are controlled by our feelings we are also controlled by our emotions, and so rather than Respond from a rational and emotionally intelligent perspective we React

Reactions or reacting is negative and it keeps people living their lives on an emotional roller coaster and so they release their power to stay in charge and in control and they become victims of their own emotions; When we REACT – we take impulsive actions, actions taken quickly without much thought ,  sometimes even violent or aggressive.

Being able to respond starts with the ability to recognise and understand who you are, your weaknesses and your strengths, your likes and dislikes. You begin to school yourself and deliberately take your time to answer to issues that could rile you up and  then you are able to exert self control and respond appropriately

Not taking stock of who you are simply creates a crisis of identify. When you are not sure of your identity, the world will tell you who you are not. You will always be swayed by comments, feedback, situations , circumstances and whatever challenges life may bring

Defeat The Giant Of Fear Become Fearless

Fear cripples us and creates paranoia. It erodes self confidence and self esteem and keeps us in our comfort zone for fear of the unknown. Becoming fearless does not mean you will not be afraid anymore, it simply means , you rise above your fear by confronting it and you become bold and courageous. It takes courage to face  the unknown and deal with the unknown. Courage is the heart of boldness. It is the strength and ability to do what frightens you. Feeling afraid is actually healthy, it enables you tread with caution. So feel afraid but do what you have to do! Be Bold, Be Courageous.

Nelson Mandela said this “The braveman is not he who does not feel afraid but he who conquers fear. Conquer that fear, confront it and triumph over it!

Hold you fear in one hand and hold courage in the other and leap!

Feed Your Mind

In our mind is our Will, Philosphies, Principles, Habits, and emotions. What you feed your mind is what your mind manifests. Your perception is therefore of utmost importance as it determines whether you meditate on positive things or negative things. With challenges, there is always a right way and a wrong way, life or death as the bible defines it and we are advised to choose life always.

Life is positive, true, bold, optimistic. There is always a choice as to the path to tow .There is a famous  Cherokee legend about the battle between two wolves. An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”It is either Death or Life, Good or Evil, Positive or Negative, Fear or Faith, Laziness or Diligence, Excuses or Effort, Mediocrity or Excellence, Purposeful Living or Just living…………….. Whichever path you choose! Remember you ALWAYS have a choice

Choose wisely.

Believe

Believe that there will be a solution to the problem or challenge and that it will be in your favour. Remember NOTHING shall be impossible to them that believe . As a man thinks in his heart so is he and there is nothing as powerful as the Conviction and Belief.  It is the the bridge that connects you to the path of great possibilities rather than probabilities

Choose carefully what you believe. Renew your mind and adopt kingdom truths and principles

Take Control

By acting on the positive choices you have made. Note not to act on impulse or act out of fear. Make sure your mind has processed the situation and has mapped out a plan that is at least 70% fool proof , then act

There is a Jewish proverb that says ”I ask not for a lighter burden but for broader shoulders”

Know that every adversity, every failure and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit. Therefore don’t pray to be sheltered from danger ,pray to be fearless in facing them and don’t just pray for the stilling of pain, pray that you have the heart to conquer it.
